Time Warp Sonics - The KLØNE Pedal (Boutique)

Having owned several of the original Klon Centaur pedals, we sought to bring a sonically identical, but affordable version to market without sacrificing any of the legendary tonal qualities of the original. Starting with the same charge pump IC chip and op amps from the original, we developed a circuit using vintage Germanium glass diodes to create the characteristic overdrive contour of the original Centaur in our hand-wired pedal. Making some allowances for variations in contemporary components, we fine-tuned the sonic profile of our KLØNE to match the two originals we own, both on our test bench and with our ears.  The result is a pedal that tonally matches the original with smooth mid-range overdrive, still retaining the transparency of the original Centaurs.  Our KLØNE also reproduces the ability of the originals to operate as a 15dB straight boost, suitable for overdriving the front end of most tube amplifiers by reducing the Gain setting and increasing the Output control.  The KLØNE runs on either a 9 volt battery or a standard 9 volt center-negative power supply and requires 65mA of current.
