The1997 Gibson Les Paul Studiowas primarily equipped with humbucker pickups, but a limited edition model featuring P-90 pickups was also produced. These limited-edition P-90 models often came with gold hardware and a black (ebony) finish, sometimes referred to as a "Black Beauty".
