Elger guitars are electric and acoustic guitars manufactured between 1959 and approximately 1970, initially in the US and later in Japan by the Hoshino Gakki company. The Elger brand, founded by Harry Rosenbloom, was also the first US company to mass-import Japanese guitars and became the predecessor to the Ibanez brand in the United States.
History of Elger Guitars
  • 1959-1964 (USA-made): Harry Rosenbloom established the Elger Company to produce his own guitars, including archtop electric guitars, from his shop in Pennsylvania.
  • 1965-1970 (Japan-made): Elger partnered with the Japanese Hoshino Gakki company, which manufactured the guitars that were then imported and sold under the Elger name in the US. These were quality, affordable instruments.

Elger is the brand that became Ibanez.  This is a pre-Ibanez from 1971.
