We took a neglected hammered bass and turned it into a total beast and I mean a beast! This is a top 5 Tbird we have ever had in stock. This bass is a killer and you can be too..

I want to point out that we did not alter this bass - we received it that way and we repaired, improved and corrected every sin. Yes she had an old headstock repair and it hasnt moved since the Clinton administration. The truss rod operates PERFECT in both direction. We have a pic of the headstock with the cover off. The frets were just addressed for maintenance and there is plenty of meat left. The neck has proper, shallow relief and is set up with low action and plays true and clean.

The bass is played! All over cool wear and patina - this looks like a modified 64 or 65 Tbird other than the 3 point bridge holes. Yes it has the orig hard case and she weighs 9.4 lbs.

This is an absolute, no doubt Gibson Custom Shop Bass. The pickups are Gibson custom units, you can tell by looking at the bottom side, these are not run of the mill teflon soapbars. The pickup cavities have specific routes for accommodating these pickups and the factory finishes are there. This too is no doubt. When we received the bass it had an onboard effect that was just plain dumb and didnt work. We removed it and had a custom wired Bartolini Preamp made that was wired to use the holes that remained. Its a Bartolini HR4.7 APJ/918 unit that was built by Frank at Best Bass Gear (these guys do GREAT work!!) The controls are Vol/Blend/Mid, stacked bass and treble and a toggle for 250/500/800 mid shift. This assembly fit in the factory cavity and yes, it cost us a fortune. Pull up on the vol pot and the bass becomes passive. The battery box was professionally routed and installed just under the bridge. We would have put this under the guard at the elbow route. The bass was received with a BadAss 1 bridge that had miscut saddles - We replaced the saddles and it is now properly cut. The bass has super pro installed diamond/flake inlays. We just installed brand new HipShot ultra light minituners that have the correct shaft size. We received the bass with an old set of Fender reverse wind reissue tuners. The looked great, functioned fine BUT the Gibson headstock cannot accommodate 39.5mm tuner paddles. If the tuners were 'flat' the paddles would bump. Odds of it occurring were slim, but possible and we wont sell anything with a known flaw. Again, no biggie and they are included. Reason we went with the Hipshots were the weight and helps the bass balance. There is some sort of an autograph from Pat somebody on the back - who cares...

This bass plays great, looks great, sounds insane and is ballsy as all hell. Active and passive, issue free and is ready for you to slay your overly loud drummer. We just spent a lot of time on the bench with this one getting to set up very nicely. She plays really well and sounds as you would expect with the Gibson mudbucker. The bass is worth more in parts, lolol.... Other than 1 changed saddle screw, she's all there. Only thing to point out is theres a tiny hairline split off the e-tuner screw that was very common with all basses of this era. No abuse but shows careful player wear and patina. We love the period letters and the Dymo label on the thumb rest.. How typical... Just to understand, the big dog was the Gibson EB0, the little brother was the Gibson Melody Maker and the baby brother was the Kalamazoo. The parts and electronics were all the same. Nice bass and nice nostalgia. The bass is set up with old flats which should be mandatory!!!

Used asis - Comes with a gig bag

What do you get when you cross a Gibson Thunderbird with a traditional Fender bass? You get the Gibson Bass IV. TBird electronics, kinda-sorta Precision type body with a glued in neck, Jbass VVT controls and a Jbass feeling neck but with that Gibson touch. These are beyond under rated and a total value. The bass has been in service for close to 40 years and is still in very nice condition. Shows typical player wear but no damage. This bass was lovingly owned and maintained. We received her with flats and the frets/neck/rod are all fine - she is set up with rounds.
